Functional Movement: Pushing/Pressing

Our next series that we are going to dive into is about the different exercises that improve functional performance throughout the day. There are seven different types of movement that incomposes functional tasks and today we are going to talk about pressing.

The act of pressing is when we use our arms or legs to move an object away from us. You use pressing when you are putting dishes into the upper cabinets, kicking a ball, and pushing yourself off the floor. When it comes to body weight movements, a pushup (whether it be on the ground or elevated) is the ultimate push exercise. Any form of plank can also be considered a push movement along with pressing a weight overhead. Our bodies are meant to move in all planes and directions, so we must train for #alloftheways.
